What have you learned from you audience feedback?

This is our answer to:
What have you learned from your audience feedback?

(There is a slight gap at the end of the video - this was initially put as a place holder but was left empty, and when exporting it wasn't taken out)

How effective is the combination of your main products and ancillary texts?

This is our answer to:
How effective is the combination of your main products and ancillary tasks?

How did you use new media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?

These two videos are answering this question. We chose to under go two videos due to the fact that it would be a better flow in terms of our answer and explanation.

Farewell practical post

Progress Post: Creation of the audience feedback evaluation repsonse

Audience Feedback Response Video

Below is the creation and progress of one of our answers for the evaluation: What have you learned from your audience feedback.
We have used examples from our music video to display what they are talking about and demonstrate what aspects they like/dislike. Most of our feedback was positive, so this is helpful to show the feedback in more detail.

We also used use of key frames for the same reason, this is helpful as it is able to show the specific details that they are talking about - this has also made our video more technical and professional instead of just using a simple image of the track lists.

This is the final layout of our video, we have used lots of different shots and texts to cut to and from which has helped us to show our feedback in more detail and make a more technical video.

We used other techniques such as video and audio fades/gains to make the video run smoother and look more professional, as shown below.

At the end of the video, we have added in our responses to the music video, and here we discuss the positive/negative responses and whether this is beneficial for us or not.

Progress: evaluation prep

Evaluation Prep and Start

Today and in our recent lessons we have been planning for our evaluation and taking some of the footage that we are going to use within this. We were able to get a group of people in our target market age range to give feedback on our music video and ancillary tasks to help us to answer the audience feedback reflection question - and we have finished the edit for this today:

We feel that this has gone really well as we got a range of feedback from people with different preferences and interests, which means that we have a wide range of individual feedback to reflect and work on. This feedback was also really positive for us as many of the people understood the narrative and appreciated the shots, themes, editing techniques etc from all of our music video and ancillary tasks.

Final: Digipak

Below is our final digipak design:

Overall, we are really happy with how this has turned out as it links in with our genre well with the dark colours and use of unique effects as it suggests the more alternative style. This also means that we would be attracting our target market, as this is what they will be expecting to see on a digipak, and the alternative style will be similar to what they are interested in.
We wanted to keep it quite minimalistic as we felt that this made it look more professional and links in with the quite stylish aspect of our genre, however we made more focus on the smaller details, which has also helped it to look more professional and well-made. For the front cover, we wanted the main focus to be on the artist as this is conventional and helps to promote both her and the album, however we still wanted to maintain the alternative style with having the artist looking to the side instead of straight into the camera as this would be more conventional for pop artists etc. The effect is also quite unique and links to the genre well, as well as linking the digipak to the music video with the idea of split personalities. The background is also slightly textured which again links in with the idea of small detail but with minimalistic style. We wanted to continue with the geometric patterns as this links with the magazine ad.
For the two inside pages, we wanted to create textures with using the artist's face as this is another alternative effect which is unique to the artist and the artistic theme relates to our genre well. We also wanted to use a quote as well to link in with the artistic theme, and used the branches in the background to link this with our other edit of the branches on the arms.

Final: Magazine Advertisement

This is our completed magazine advertisement for our album.
When making this poster there were a few things that we decided to change or add. Firstly, we discussed whether we wanted to use the geometric pattern by the artist's face as we wanted to maintain minimalistic look however still create an abstract and alternative feel to match our genre. We decided to stick with this idea, however use subtler colours than plain black and introduce a gradient so it blends with the background. We really like this effect as the pattern also works around the artists face, keeping the attention on her. The use of this pattern also helps to link the advert with her album (and also the font within her name) , which is an important aspect when promoting an album/artist. The colour theme is also quite minimalistic, but we have kept it mainly quite dark as this again links with our album and relates to our genre as it suggests a more alternative style.

Magazine Advertisement - Testers

Our initial idea was to have a close up of the artist and use some sort of geometric design as this compliments the digipak. Above are all of our individual sketches, for the final choice we decided to incorporate all of the ideas, however focus on the layout of the bottom idea. Although the ideas were considered, alterations have been made for the first draft - we have changed the image slightly to have the artist looking to the left as we feel that this gives the ad a more edgy style, we have also added more of the information for the album including social networking links and website.
We were thinking of incorporating the double exposure effect with the church, similar to our digipak however we felt that this simplistic design fitted better with the brief.

Magazine Advertisement - First Draft

We also wanted to experiment with a different colour tone to see which one we preferred the most. With the brown, we felt that this gave the advert quite a 'vintage' and aged feel - which is effective, but mainly used for more acoustic genres and artists. So, we have decided to keep it grey as this matches our genre well and makes the artist look more modern and current which will help to appeal to our target market.
