Development process for choosing our genre

When we were planning our genre, we discussed many different genres, below is an example of this;

After researching into the genres and viewing the different conventions that each one usually requires, we decided to focus on a sub-genre of Indie: Indie Pop. We chose this genre as we all enjoy this type of music and our widely aware of the conventions. Furthermore, we think that this genre gives us more ability to creatively shoot the video with a slower pace of editing and more unconventional shots and framing as this is more interesting to create, and watch. We also initally liked the idea of shooting in an urban environment, which this genre fits perfectly with as many of the songs focus in on more urban settings and plots, and as we live close to central London we will have easy accessibility to very urbanised areas. As our group consists of girls, we are going to choose a female vocalist as this will allow maximum flexibility for filming.
